Waited waited and then waited, finally bought vw polo turbo edition. If it's the 1 litre TSI engine I was after, how can I wait more, on 18 th March the kusaq was launched, but again a wait of upto July, for simply booking it ( delivery date and prices unknown).
Turbo edition last piece was there at the dealer, in now or never situation I went and grabbed it in a flash.
TSI Highline was too pricey, turbo edition was just right so went for it. And Highline again after booking I was to wait for a month.
My desire was to go for taigun /kusaq but can't wait endless. When heart of the matter was that TSI engine.
Polo TSI my experience is that it's one of the best car in handeling and punch, way ahead of Koreans or maruti products. For a enthusiast, no other turbo in range can offer what vw polo dose . Goodness built in its DNA, lcd panels don't make a car....?
But vw should understand the agony of such long wait.

With Polo Turbo Edition I got TSI engine in 7 lakh. The limited period was 30 days. And no one knew it. I am waiting for same crack down for Taigun or Kushaq.😉

I still dnt know what is T ROC doing at a price point of 26 to 27 Lakhs without 4X4 and Many more features. The Same engine will be available from 13 to 14 lakhs onwards with the Taigun. And at 26 lakhs the consumer would start preferring to choose the New Tiguan or Why not even the Jeep Compass. So the 2021 T Roc is a very confusing producg. Had it been priced similar to last year it would still make sense. Need more view points on this.

Mediocre looking car. Its sibling Kushaq is much better looking. And the Koreans are way better in terms of looks and features. 15 lakhs on road for top model might do the trick, considering the costly servicing and costly spare parts.

VW must think of CKD route for 1.5 TSI with Tiguan as well , as those can be priced much lower with cheaper engine and front wheel drive. It will open up the segment wider and will provide a reasonable upgrade path for VW customers.

Chrome delete would be a easy aftermarket touch.
The real problem is the ground clearance
188 is too much, 170 would have been enough.

You want to be premium do that in Germany or Europe. In India you have to play with the prices otherwise it will end up like tiguan all space and it's quite greedy increasing the price of troc for what it offers.

VW has made one mistake. They should have offered 1.5L Non-turbo also. 1.5L Turbo will be very expensive. People don't like 1L turbo for their SUV. 1L turbo might be ok for Sub Compact SUV like Venue, Magnite etc.

VW Tiagun would definitely be expensive than Kushaq for sure. Because Mr. Gupta repeatedly mentioned it would be a premium product & with Chrome all around it might be more dearer.
Lets keep our fingers crossed & hope they price it well with 95% localisation for Indian buyers.

Taigun can come with better headlamp design, it looses clearly in terms of looks from kushaq. My advice to VW is to keep price very competitive and come with better headlight design, chrome might help but wont be a deal breaker.

Hormadz what is CKD and CBU?

    • Niran Chengappa

      Niran Chengappa

      19 दिवसांपूर्वी

CKD is Completely Knocked Down unit . They import the parts & assemble them in the assembly plant . The taxes are much lower for CKD . CBU is Completely Built Unit . Here the taxes are very high as it’s completely imported .

      19 दिवसांपूर्वी

Cbu is complete built unit. It means that a car is imported or exported from any country. Cbu cars have more tax Ckd means completely knocked down units

    • Sam12rth

      20 दिवसांपूर्वी

CBU stands for complete built up, which is usually manufactured and assembled as whole in another country and is imported, it is generally more expensive, owing to import duty. CKD stands for Complete knocked down, which means only parts are imported and assembled locally, they tend to be cheaper.

    • Srinivasan S R

      Srinivasan S R

      20 दिवसांपूर्वी

CBU - Completely Built Unit - Car is completely built in a foreign country and then imported here as a single unit. This has very high taxes. CKD - Completely Knocked Down Unit - The car parts are made in a foreign country and is shipped here and then assembled in the company's plant and only then it is sold. This has lower taxes than CBU, but still attracts higher taxes than completely made in India.

    • ANKIT Ankit

      ANKIT Ankit

      19 दिवसांपूर्वी

CKD needs some good volumes. T Roc as a CKD doesnt make a business case. But still pricing is too high for a car without Cooled Seats , No Cruise Control, No electric seat adjustment. And at 26 lakhs on road you dnt even get 4x4

T-roc doesn't make sense. Has less space(especially rear legroom) than taigun and comes with 1.5 TSI and DSG which is present in taigun as well. T-roc is for niche customers who want a sporty SUV which can drive like a hatchback.

I'm guessing their target numbers are achieved irrespective of their pricing. If this is priced in line or slightly higher than Kia and Hyundai I think they will get their share of pie. Unless they price it closer to Harrier than Creta/seltos it might sell in good numbers.

Taigun design is not a futuristic like Honda hrv hybrid. Also hrv is a mileage machine without compromise on performance. And definitely hrv will be more pocket friendly than taigun and skoda kushaq.

it will have 109hp combined with the electric motors , add in the extra weight of the batteries and a fuel economy which the company claims as 26kmpl. BTW the fuel economy given is for the 109hp model and not the 121hp model .Which is frankly sad given how even non hybrid Hondas can give 26kmpl , either way I don't think its gonna be as peppy as vw engines have been recently with their TSIs. Add to that the 150hp model of the taigun and the fact that all HP numbers by German brands are at the wheels not the crank. i do expect the taigun to be as fast or slightly faster than the t-roc which has the same engine and is heavier but still has a claimed 0-100 of 8.4 by the same 1.5 150hp TSI. As far as looks go, vw always goes with more understated looks which hold over time. but the HRV does look good. Interior quality is also always better in German cars (FACT)." The new HR-V for India will be a hybrid model and is expected to be introduced as a CKD unit" , so expect it to be priced way more than other cars , considering the estimated cost for the hybrid city will be around 15-18lakhs which isnt even a CKD

      20 दिवसांपूर्वी

That’s how it has been with VW.. they say premium but miss features... for example: my polo MPI has cruise control where as T-roc doesn’t have cruise control - it’s laughing matter .. a21 lakhs vehicle not having this feature as it would be important on highways for out of city travel.. hoping taigun has this else I won’t be buying it.. or at least Kushaq to have it.. else I would go to vento when new model is out next year or so..
