The Renault Kiger is the French alternative to the Nissan Magnite. It plays on the same strengths too - economic price tag and a kit brimming with features - but adds a Duster inspired macho style to the mix. So how does it all come together? Watch the review to find out!

The only shortfall is the engine which should have been the 1.2 litre turbo which the Renault/Nissan group already have in their portfolio. It then would have been perfect for Bharath. The engine I am referring to is TCe130 – 132 PS (97 KW; 130 HP) at 5,500 rpm and 205 Nm (20.9 kg·m; 151.3 ft·lb) at 2,000 rpm or also called the Nissan HRA2DDT (1.2 DIG-T). Lack of this bigger engine makes for turbo lag being pronounced till 1600 rpm.

Duster needs an immediate interior revamp atleast same to this....

Just an observation - If you are going to use the phrase “at this price point” many times in your review, please mention the price upfront in the video and not at the very end. Clearly the biggest USP of the car is its extremely competitive price but you reveal it almost as a passing thought. Other than that, thanks for the detailed review, as usual.
Sachi Pathmajan
The Nitpicking part seemed inspired by Matt Watson's 5 annoying things about the car
Ravi Karthikeyan
I personally test drove the car and there are a lot of negatives.
1. Notchy gearbox
2. Long gear throws
3. Clunky clutch with long travel( totally not suitable for city).
4. Poor steering feedback, artificially heavy steering.
5. Poor audio system even in high end.
6. Non turbo engine is comparable to alto in acceleration. Not responsible at all. Turbo engine is a gem.
7. The HEADLIGHT is pathetic, especially the led on the top end. Low beam is fine but high beam is almost same as low beam( my main reason to not book the kiger). Night highway drive is a nightmare due to light or you will have to fit an extra accessory headlight.

Please do review of Kiger CVT gear box.....

Most detailed and practical review, thanks for all the info, kiger looks modern and convenient car for driving all over....superb video shoot.....
swami boo
Clearly the best looking car under a million indian rupees.. Not sure why people are relating it with quid.. I'd say it has more of Renault Family look! It looks more related to a Koleos than a Duster(which never felt like a Renault to look at!).. This has that french flavor.
Divyaman Ramawat
The only review channel that shares real life issues with cars. Good to see the carwow style top 5 disliked things.. 😜

I predict this car will sold very well, the kwid which is a much inferior car sold a lot in countries like Brazil and India , and the kiger is better constructed with better features , and apparently will cost just a little more. Very good option to entice the competiton.
Arpan Das Gupta
How about the lights at night and the throw and vision?

You guys in India got some exiting simple cars, like the Sonet,Magnite,Venue,Kiger, etc. And I mean "simple" in a good way!Hope any of them come to my country.Greetings from Germany, stay save and healthy!

@Tommy Decker Wow! It took like 20 minutes but it actually worked!!

Looks wise Magnite is good but it is quite under power in hilly areas. Both have given atleast 1.2 L engine.

These reviews seem to be inspired by Mat Watson from CarWow!
Prasanna Kumar Tekumudi
Only drawback and missing features which I can see from kiger is cruise control and tyre pressure monitor. Otherwise this could have been completed sub 4 meter SUV.
I feel nissan Magnite is providing those features but service network is poor.
Anyway nice review keep going...
Daksh Arora
Did you just copy Mat Watson's '5 annoying things'? I'm still a fan though!
VASHIST NARAYAN Singh
Can we take non turbo with 5 people and full boot on uphills ?

Yes...why not When maruti 800 old model can.....why not kiger

Kiger or magnite , which good look?

Thank you this is a detail review and yes, triber and kiger kinda difference but it's good to compare it in terms of size. nice.

Gear shift not smooth one and no space for rest your leg near clutch..I done a test drive last week
blue280485
The entire video was very good👍
But...
I was waiting for your comments on safety features skipped by Renault like ESC, Hill Hold, ARB, TCS, HBB and disappointed that even you did not mention Magnite Turbo gets these and Kiger Turbo missed it.
Dzire/Swift AMT gets ESP with Hill Hold then why not Kiger AMT & CVT?
Kiger Non-Turbo is direct competition to Compact Sedans & Sports/Premium Hatchbacks then why miss such important features 🤷
Tarun ''btarunr''
The nitpicking segment seems too copied off from CarWow. Maybe use your normal tone.

Paid review surprisingly from OD....
रात्री झोप लागली का नीट? 😃
Evident from the fact that, kiger was being compared to the triber continously, however both are of different styles/types.... Magnite comparison? Why OD?
Chandan Deo
That name alteration kiber still doesn't make sense but nonetheless it doesn't matter.

Good to see Rohit back in reviews

Boy !! What a original design ... How much effort must have went to get this designed ? .. ZERO .... ZERO ..
OD getting big bucks to promote positive review of KWID on steroids ... I have more respect for MAGNITE design after seeing KIGER ....

Very good review about this car by any car reviewer. Many were clumsy when the ride quality, Built quality and handling of the car to be explained.
ASHISH THAKUR
How much it squats when all seats are occupied???
pacific sword
Not sure the leg room works. The rear seat looks upright. And the leg space comparison shots seems to show thr front seats as being too upright. But yeah
Akash Rana
Strange that in a 21 min long video there wasn't a dedicated piece on safety equipment which is missing quite a bit in Kiger when compared to Magnite. Hopefully these will be addressed to in a comparison video.
sajjanraja
shows the attitude of overdrive towards safety

Kwid on steroids look doesn't work for me... 👎🏼

I like this design very much. Even I want Renault to carry over same design to duster also

In cc it's torque steer not talk steer 😌

@Kuya Jay in subtitles it was written talk steer...but in fact its called as torque steer in terms of engine performance......

Yellow lights are also called as Warm Lights and good for eyes! Yellow lights are much better than white lights inside the cabin and also in houses.

That's a great review. Thank you.:)
Certainly a great looking and well equipped car. Also well built, though as you said longevity is something that can be a concern.
M S
Since it's a new car, the longevity will only be known with the passage of time. So we can either take a leap of faith by buying it or go for some proven product. The overall package looks tempting enough but it's your own choice that eventually matters.
Sunny Thukral
The best review of the Kiger I have seen thus far! Good move comparing it comprehensively with a car from within the brand itself 👍👍
The Lazy Wanderer Mys
A bit too late BUT i think this is the most detailed first drive video by any major auto mag so far. I also liked the fact that you kept mentioning 'Compact crossover' and not 'compact SUV', which is true. The Kiger comes across as a good compromise for the price. Makes me wonder why come of its competition cost more than twice of it on road. Yes, you may have a slightly better quality / bigger engine and a diesel powertrain option, but still 2x the price? Anyways, I hope Kiger brings in numbers for Renault much like Duster/Kwid did.
Abhijith S
Why does the tyre looks wore out... Literally no close up of tyre have grip in them... Is it the case or just looks like it has wore out
Muthukumaran Vijayakumaar
10L is over priced...
Abhijith S
As a person who have driven both magnite and kiger what are the key difference between them
The nph levels?
Interior quality?
Fit and finish?
Ride quality?
Driving feel?
Planning on buying either one but wanted to know your opinion before deciding
Abhijith S
6:09 did he mean that it is comparable to baleno, altroz and i20 wow

@The Fat Biker I've a question. Is the apache's new adjustable suspension good enough for off roading like the xpulse? (If you haven't tested it yet, please answer this question in the next review of the apache rtr 200 4v/xpulse 200 bs6)
The Fat Biker
Thank you. I’ll pass on your compliments to the camera team.

The only car almost 80% of Indians will ever need..
Superb blend of looks, space, "performance", features & mainly price!!
Ain'tMyself
@Hardik M Shah Cities mein bhi accident hote hai. What kind of logic is this? Engine aur safety features ka koi lena dena nahi hai.
Hardik M Shah
@Ain'tMyself don't understand the recent obsession of Indians with safety. Yes of course it crucial, but at crawling speeds in most cities, with hawkers & cows lining the roads, people driving any which way... just drive between 40-80 & the basic airbags will be just fine. What's the point of stressing these 3 pots over 80 anyway? Then you aren't entitled to ask "kitna deti hai?" coz you're wringing the neck of that small engine... which has been put in there to give the customer a lower cost!!!!!!
R krish
@Ain'tMyself Yes fooling the public in the name of budget pricing and these biased auto journalists will only highlight the pros not the cons.
Ain'tMyself
It lacks most must have safety features which all other cars in the segment come with.
Ratnadeep Gaikwad
Sorry I missed your review about the NVH levels of the Kiger.
Abhijith S
@The Fat Biker is this the same case on magnite or is it better in that area?
The Fat Biker
@12:48 I haven’t mentioned about the wind noise, so thank you for pointing it out. There is fair bit of wind noise after 120kmph, whereas the tyre noise is audible after around 90kmph, and more so at the rear.
- PAHWASAKI
I'm confused between Kiger/Magnite and Altroz....I know they are of different segments...but price bracket is same....
All I need is a good quality components car which is reliable...what do you suggest #overdrive ?
sunit dattani
@ The Fat Biker, between Kigar manual turbo petrol n Nexon manual petrol with similar cost which one is your pick sir??
- PAHWASAKI
@The Fat Biker thanks for the suggestion.
The Fat Biker
Here are a few pointers: The Altroz comes across as a bit more premium than the Magnite or Kiger and has a punchier/more efficient Diesel option too. So get the Altroz if you want that premium feel and practicality of a diesel. If you are looking for space, tons of features and and adequate performance from a petrol engine for day to day use, the Kiger or Magnite makes more sense. Between the two, the Kiger feels more polished and better tuned than the Nissan. It also has better space management. Hope this helps.
